The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board has given the go-signal to roll out the P81.686-billion phase one of the Mindanao Railway Project (MRP). According to the DoTr, the phase one of the Mindanao Railway Project can cater to 130,000 passengers everyday. Travel time, meanwhile, between Tagum City and Digos City will be cut from 3.5 hours to 1.3 hours. “This project will surely benefit those who call Mindanao their home, and also those doing business on the island. As the first railway to be built outside of Luzon, the MRP will transform the socio-economic landscape of Mindanao,” Public Works Secretary and Government Infrastructure Cluster head Mark Villar said.
