The Kochi Regional Response Centre of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) will be set up shortly. Singh, Director General of the Force, after inspecting the land allotted for the centre at Irumpanam on Monday. One unit of the response team will soon be shifted to Kochi, Mr. Singh said. The State government has earmarked the five-acre land it had taken back from the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited for the response centre. Establishing the centre in Kochi will reduce the response time of rescue missions.
