Two MPs came under fire in the House of Commons on Monday for their decision to speak on a panel which is being organized by groups calling for the release of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou. “Shame on the NDP and Green Party for supporting Chinese communist propaganda over Canadian values of freedom, democracy and the rule of law,” said Dancho. But Manly, the Green MP for Nanaimo-Ladysmith, told the Star that Dancho “completely mischaracterized my position and why I’m participating.”“Canada cannot unilaterally release Meng Wanzhou,” he said. Wanzhou has denied any wrongdoing and is currently fighting Canada’s extradition process. “The position advanced by these organizations is not the party’s position,” said NDP spokesperson Melanie Richer.
