The name of this NCP corporator came up when Iqbal Kaskar was arrested and questioned by the anti-extortion cell of the Thane Police on Monday. Thane Police planned the operation to arrest Kaskar after it received information on an extortion racket being run by him and his associates in Thane and Navi Mumbai. The NCP corporator, who was in the news in 2015 after a leading Thane-based builder Suraj Parmar shot himself dead, was part of the gang and passed on information to Kaskar and his men. A senior police officer privy to the investigation in the Iqbal Kaskar case confirmed that one of the four corporators' name came up during the questioning of Kaskar and two others who were arrested with him.
