more-inFor nearly seven hours on Saturday, 60 teachers and attendants at National Child Labour Project (NCLP) schools in Coimbatore and Tirupur districts listened to experts and learnt new activities and games. They run special schools for rescued child workers and face several day-to-day challenges. As many as 865 rescued child workers study at the 30 special schools in these two districts. When the teachers and attendants visit the families and request the parents to send the child workers to school, parents might resist it or do not want to discuss the problems involved in educating the children. Mr. Vijayakumar added that the Centre has increased the stipend paid directly to the children every month from ₹ 150 to ₹ 400.
