Religious leaders under the National Council of Churches of Kenya on Wednesday supported constitutional amendments that are focused on people and not politics. NCCK Chairperson Archbishop Timothy Ndambuki said in a statement the amendments should be aimed at enhancing justice, national cohesion, accountability and national prosperity. The NCCK Executive Committee that met on Tuesday and Wednesday at Jumuia Conference and Country Home, Limuru, to reflect on matters of national concern has presented a draft Constitution Amendment Bill for consideration by Kenyans. In their draft Constitution, they seek to provide equality of all religions by ensuring that each can establish their own courts, promote the independence of the Judiciary and ensure that county assemblies serve their full term. The Executive Committee is also concerned that political leaders could be plotting to manipulate the national census that will be conducted in August 2019.
