Officials and employees at the National Board of Revenue have begun protests calling for the removal of senior officials at the government agency following the overthrowing of the Sheikh Hasina government and protests at other agencies. They demanded the dismissal of ‘opportunistic officials’, including current Chairman Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Munim and First Secretary (Tax Administration) Md Shahiduzzaman. The protesters put forward a 9-point charter of demand that included not allowing deputations for anyone in the administrative cadre. They included officials at the board member level, VAT and income tax departments. Other officials and employees expressed similar opinions and burnt a poster of the chairman.
