The tax offices began accepting returns from July 30. Taxpayers can apply to the commissioner concerned for an extension, Muneem said. As of Thursday, 13.2 lakh returns were filed, up 4.8 per cent from a year earlier. Tax payments amounting to Tk 2,308 crore were cleared, down from last year’s Tk 2,580 crore, Muneem said.
