MANILA, Philippines — “I’m here at the disposal of government.”Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Archie Gamboa said this amid chatter that he was being eyed for the post of director of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) once he retires from the police force. Archie Francisco Gamboa is at the disposal of government,” the PNP chief said over ABS-CBN News Channel’s “Headstart” on Wednesday. Gamboa was also asked to confirm information from sources that his time as PNP chief would be extended. “I’ve been hearing from sources that there’s a possibility that you’ll be extended as PNP chief,” Headstart’s host Karen Davila asked Gamboa. Gamboa was appointed OIC of the PNP in October 2019 after Gen. Oscar Albayalde stepped down as PNP chief amid the “ninja cops” controversy.
