NBA Commissioner Adam Silver discusses the state of the league at Economic Club of D.C. on Thursday. (Zach Gibson/Getty Images)Next month, many of the world’s top 19-year-old basketball players will gather in New York for an NBA draft that will change their lives and their credit limits. The top 18-year-olds, meanwhile, are preparing for high school graduation and soon will report to college for, in most cases, a single season of basketball. Silver said support for ending the one-and-done rule is not universal among NBA owners, and he said perhaps just half the teams are eager to open the doors to high school players. The moderator, David Rubenstein, president of the Economic Club, asked Silver whether he’s concerned about college players who stop attending classes once their freshman seasons come to a close.
