BRUSSELS—NATO signaled the U.K. would retain a central role in European security after Brexit as the military alliance announced a summit in London later this year, handing the British government a rare diplomatic win during its fraught departure from the European Union. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization has said Brexit will increase the importance of its alliance, and the U.K. wants to remain a key player in regional security.
