Jesusegun AlagbeThe Nigerian Air Force has started airlifting and distributing electoral materials to states for the February 16, 2019 elections. The NAF, in a statement by its Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, said on the Facebook that the electoral items were both sensitive and non-sensitive materials. “The airlift exercise includes day and night missions, during which both sensitive and non-sensitive electoral materials are conveyed in batches, with NAF C-130 Hercules aircraft from the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja to various airports across the country,” NAF said. The statement said the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, had, during a meeting with Air Officers Commanding and NAF Field Commanders on February 1, 2019, expressed NAF’s readiness to help the Independent National Electoral Commission to transport electoral materials.
