KARACHI: The investigators who are probing the murder of news anchor Mureed Abbas have requested the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to investigate into the financial scam involving over 1billion rupees, which according to them “could be the reason for murder”. In this regard, Senior Superintendent of Police, Investigation-I South Zone has forwarded a request to the NAB authorities to initiate the investigation to ascertain the reasons behind the murder of anchor Mureed Abbas who was shot dead recently by his friend-cum-business partner. “It is submitted that case FIR No 382/2019 u/s 302, 34 PPC was registered at PS Darakhshan in which TV anchor Mureed Abbas was killed along with his friend Khizar Hayat by accused Atif Zaman. Further, the number of victims of this financial scam is more than 100. All the credentials of the case directly invite NAB jurisdiction.
