MNA Ramesh Kumar also calls for parliament to outlaw trade licence of alcohol for Hindu communityThe National Assembly Standing Committee on Law and Justice has rejected the constitutional amendment bill on Tuesday proposed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Hindu lawmaker Dr Ramesh Kumar seeking complete ban on consumption of alcohol in the country. Dr Ramesh has called upon parliament to amend Article 37 of the Constitution which permits the consumption of alcohol for minorities in the country. He demanded to outlaw the trade licence of alcohol for the Hindu community as “it is against the teachings of their religion”. Ban on alcohol: Hindu MNA urges govt to reconsider billMNA Shunila Ruth, belonging to the Christian community, also demanded to impose ban on alcohol consumption, saying “alcohol is prohibited in their religion too”. Bashir Virk, another lawmaker, also rejected the bill, saying it would result in the “humiliation for the country across the world”.
