Visitors to this year’s New York State Fair in Syracuse, N.Y., rode the Broadway Skyliner, a new chairlift-type ride that dominates the midway. State officials now say the gondola is no longer part of the $120 million plan, but Troy Waffner, acting fair director, says the project hasn’t been ruled out for the future. The commitment to the fair, which operates on a roughly $15 million annual budget, is starting to pay off, state officials said.
