A Nova Scotia couple's marriage of 48 years splintered over a dispute about the husband's wish to die with the help of a physician. At the end of July, Katherine, 82, went to Nova Scotia Supreme Court to stop her 83-year-old husband from going ahead with the procedure that would end his life. On Wednesday, a Nova Scotia Court of Appeal judge considered whether to set aside an earlier decision from Nova Scotia Supreme Court dismissing Katherine's injunction request. The Bridgewater, N.S., man who wants to die with the help of a physician is referred to in court documents as X. "[My husband] is a person who's suffering but is suffering mentally, and it should have been caught and it was not."
