The study, conducted by the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) at 16 locations in the city, including silence zones such as hospitals and schools, concluded that vehicle honking was continuously observed in the silence zones. As in Bengaluru, a complete lack of awareness against the use of horns in silence zones was found among motorists in Mysuru, said Mahesh Kashyap, a KSCST consultant associated with the study. Despite the existence of no-horn signboards in silence zones, many vehicle users were not found to be exercising any sort of restraint.
