Mystery surrounds the bloody scenes at the open gates of the Goudkoppies landfill site, which was rocked by a shooting on Tuesday afternoon that left multiple security guards dead. Flies swarmed the dried-up pools of blood where the guards lost their lives as they were about to clock in for the night shift. Unbeknownst to them, they would soon be met with a hail of bullets. News24 visited the isolated site in Johannesburg on Thursday where a person, who opted to remain anonymous, pointed to a bloody patch and said: "He had just relieved me of my duties and he has now passed away. This has broken my spirit."
