A Christchurch man narrowly avoided injury after a rusty steel beam "fell from the sky" and plummeted through his front windscreen. The beam ended up lodged in the passenger side windscreen of Kaibos Mapuranga's car after it smashed directly into the vehicle on the outskirts of Christchurch on Sunday morning. Mapuranga said the 15 centimetre-long beam was made of three welded rusty steel plates with two holes drilled on either side.
