The beam ended up lodged in the passenger side windscreen of Kaibos Mapuranga's car after it smashed directly into the vehicle on the outskirts of Christchurch on Sunday morning. Mapuranga said the 15 centimetre-long beam was made of three welded rusty steel plates with two holes drilled on either side.
