Mycoplasma bovis cull hits South CanterburyDAVID WALKER/STUFF Almost 6000 cattle in the South Canterbury region will be culled in an effort to stop the spread of Mycoplasma bovis. Almost 6000 cattle on Mycoplasma bovis-affected farms in South Canterbury and North Otago will be culled as part of an effort to eradicate the disease. A Ministry for Primary Industries spokesman confirmed there were six properties affected in South Canterbury and North Otago. South Canterbury Federated Farmers' dairy chairman Ryan O'Sullivan said the culling announcement was bittersweet. The disease was first confirmed on one of their South Canterbury farms on July 21 last year.
