YANGON, Myanmar—The U.S. declaration that Myanmar is carrying out ethnic cleansing was made “without any proven facts,” Myanmar said. In attaching the label to a military campaign that has driven hundreds of thousands of Rohingya Muslims into neighboring Bangladesh, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson also “failed to mention” Muslim militants’ alleged killings of Hindus and other innocent civilians, Zaw Htay, spokesman for Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi, told The Wall Street Journal Thursday.
