MyKad use for Budi95 allowed if rules followed — NRD

PUTRAJAYA (April 6): The use of MyKad to obtain subsidies under the Budi95 initiative is allowed, provided it complies with existing rules and laws, the National Registration Department (NRD) said. The NRD said it is responsible for ensuring MyKad, as the country’s official identification document, remains secure and is not misused. It said that under Regulation 25 of the National Registration Regulations 1990, the use or possession of a MyKad by anyone other than its rightful owner is an offence. “NRD remains committed to ensuring that MyKad functions as a valid and trusted form of identification, including in supporting government initiatives such as Budi95,” it said. It also urged the public to refer to official sources and understand the context of issues before making interpretations, to ensure informed and responsible discourse.
