Kirsty Robinson wants the change in legislation to be known as Gemma’s Law in memory of her sister Gemma Atkinson, who was badly beaten by her boyfriend Joseph Falconer. “It would mean so much to me for Gemma’s Law to be taken up. “Gemma’s family understandably felt the sentence was insufficient and they contacted my office. Only at that stage were they made aware there was no power to appeal.”Charlotte Kneer, chief executive of domestic abuse charity RBWA, backed the campaign for Gemma’s Law. “I support Gemma’s sister Kirsty Robinson in trying to get Gemma’s Law implemented 100%.
