Critics have argued the 2 billion-dollar Ghana-Chinese barter arrangement under which the projects will be financed, will add to the country’s total debt stock. Figures from Bank of Ghana showed the government added 30.6 billion cedis to the debt stock that was 142.6 billion cedis at the end of 2017. One of a kind deal“This innovative arrangement, the first of its kind on the continent, is not going to add to our country’s total debt stock,” he stated. Complete all projects under $2b Sinohydro deal in 30 months – Akufo-Addo orders“These projects are to be implemented on engineering, equipment, procurement and construction basis and will be completed within 30 months, within 30 calendar months after commencement,” Akufo-Addo stated.
