Damaris Mutunga and Sylvia Chelangát sailed to 400m semi-finals after finishing second in their respective heats. Mutunga ran a personal best of 52.60 in Heat 2 to place second in a race won by India’s Rupa in 52.50. Chelangát Clocked 53.99 secs to place second in Heat 4 won by Jamaica’s Dejanea Oakley in 53.70 secs. In the men’s 400m, Elkanah Chemelili timed 46.69 to place fourth in Heat 2 to sail to semi-finals. The women’s 400m semi-finals are set for Thursday 1:00 a.m. while the men’s follow closely at 1:25 a.m.
