Mutual funds receive Rs2.86 trillion in 2016

Photo: ReutersNew Delhi: Investors have pumped in Rs2.86 trillion into various mutual fund schemes in 2016, with liquid and income funds attracting the maximum inflows. In 2015, a total of Rs1.77 trillion was invested in various mutual fund products, according to the Association of Mutual Funds in India (Amfi) data. The latest inflows have been mainly driven by contribution from liquid as well as income funds. An income fund emphasises on current income, either on a monthly or quarterly basis, as opposed to capital appreciation.
