Kashmiri Muslims residing in Maharaj Gunj's Sheikh Mohalla carried the body of the woman to the cremation ground, a policeman said. The Indian Express reports that a group of Muslims in Srinagar's Maharaj Gunj, stepped out of their homes yesterday, defying the curfew, to help a Kashmiri Pandit, Deepak Malhotra, and his family conduct a ritualistic funeral for Deepak's mother, who passed away on Saturday morning. Since protests broke out after Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Vani was killed in an encounter, a curfew has been prevailing in various parts of the valley, including Srinagar.
