At 10.45pm, about 30 Muslim worshippers will gather at the Mahfil Ali mosque in Harrow, northwest London, before joining their Christian neighbours at the church of St Alban, North Harrow, to celebrate the arrival of Christmas. Driven by a curiosity about Christian traditions and a desire to form friendships with their non-Muslim neighbours, worshippers from the mosque are attending Midnight Mass for the tenth time.
