Over the last few weeks of stay-at-home restrictions in Ontario, TSO musicians, in collaboration with many community partners, have been busy playing online concerts for people across the GTA and beyond. TSO violinist Shane Kim is no exception. He’s been very active particularly in our classroom concerts — playing 45-minute concerts for students across the province, and answering questions about the music and what it’s like to be a professional musician. One of Kim’s favourite pieces to play for students is this sweet, melancholic piece, “Après un rêve” (“After a dream”), by Gabriel Fauré. Musical Moment, produced by the TSO and the Star, features musicians recording themselves live at home, performing pieces no longer than three minutes.
