While updating Ugandans on his government’s efforts in the fight against the spread of the virus pandemic, Mr Museveni, in a televised address, said he would take a pay cut and donate part of his salary to the National Covid-19 Response Fund. On the other remaining Ush2.7 million, I will instruct Janet to sign Ushs1.4 million each month to the fund. Nigerian lawmakers, Rwandan top civil servants, Kenya’s top government officials and more recently Malawi’s Cabinet have committed their salaries to the Covid-19 fight. Lawmakers in Nigeria also agreed to forgo their salaries as contributions towards the Covid-19 fight.
