Murdoch’s New York Post shifts on assault-weapons ban, after Florida school shooting

Speaking to The Post, Hogg urged Congress to take action on gun violence in schools. (Whitney Shefte,Jorge Ribas/The Washington Post)The editorial board of Rupert Murdoch's New York Post is responding to Wednesday's mass shooting at a Florida high school by calling for the revival of an assault-weapons ban, an idea it said made sense “only to the ignorant” just four months ago. Critics argue that the ban did little good — but the fact is that the average toll from mass shootings has been growing. The conservative editorial board of the New York Post, which endorsed Donald Trump in the 2016 Republican presidential primary, offered different advice after last October's shooting rampage in Las Vegas, the deadliest in U.S. history. (Note: Friday's editorial came two days after the school shooting in South Florida.)
