Police arrested Sumon Mollah alias Sukman, 45, from Sachilapur Bazar area in Sreepur upazila on Friday evening, said Sreepur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Ali Ahmed Masud. According to police, Sumon was involved in several other murders while he was on the run. In 2002, the Magura District and Sessions Judge Court had sentenced Sumon in absentia to life imprisonment and fined him Tk10,000. Acting on a tip-off, a police raid arrested Sumon around 7pm Friday, said OC Masud. After the arrest, it was learnt that Sumon is also a key accused in the murder case of Niru Munshi, a local social worker and businessman, who was killed in 2015.
