Party leaders have blamed youth wing supporters for the murder and staged demonstrations demanding their arrests. Nur Alam Hossain, the Trinamul president of Dinhata-I block, slammed youth wing leaders. "A section of miscreants led by Nisith Pramanik (Trinamul youth president of Dinhata-I block) has unleashed a reign of terror across the block. They are maligning the image of Abhishek Banerjee (Trinamul youth president and chief minister Mamata Banerjee's nephew)," Hossain said. Jahedul Haque, Mian's nephew, filed a police complaint naming around 50 youth leaders, with Pramanik at the top of the list.
