A murder accused escaped from custody after breaking the window bars of a bathroom in the Purbadhara police station in Netrokona on Wednesday. Sub-Inspector SM Mozammel, along with four other policemen: Tofazzal Hossain, Manik Miah, Masud Rana and Kamrul Islam were on-duty at the police station. Purbadhala police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ranjan Deb said Rubel Miah went to the bathroom around 4:30 in the morning. In there, he managed to break the window bars easily, since the rods were old and rusty. Netrokona Additional Superintendent of Police SM Ashraful Alam said: “The operation to arrest the absconded is in progress.”Absconded Rubel Miah already had criminal charges in cases of narcotics and hijacking.
