The Murang’a government is in the process of establishing a new oxygen plant at the county referral hospital. The plant will have the capacity to generate 40 cylinders of oxygen daily to help the fight against Covid-19. A month ago, the hospital was overwhelmed by the number of patients requiring oxygen, prompting the county government to start the project. “The machine is expected to arrive in two weeks,” he said, adding that the current oxygen plant has the capacity to produce 12 cylinders only. Mbai however, noted that Covid-19 cases have gone down significantly and that the county currently has only 12 confirmed positive cases in its isolation centres.
