A group of residents staged demonstrations in Korbanpur village on Saturday night after rumours about a social media post and comments spread. One of the houses that came under attack belongs to Naba Kumar Shib, the chairman of Purbo Dhaur union council. He said two political parties instigated the attacks and the brothers of a former local MP were behind the attacks as well. The police, public representatives and administration calmed the agitated Muslims at a gathering around 3pm on Sunday, he said. As the rumours about the Facebook post spread further, thing heated up in the area on Saturday.
