Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya has formed surveillance teams to monitor desert locusts in the Coast as the country prepares for another wave of the deadly migratory insects. Munya said there was a possibility from next year, the insects would invade the country from Somali and Ethiopia and there was need for vigilance. Munya toured Taita Taveta, Kilifi and Tana River counties which have in the recent days been invaded by the pests. “The government is prepared and has sufficient pesticides to spray from the air and ground,” he said.
