In a bid to help the people in need during the coronavirus pandemic, a 1989 jersey of Monem Munna, the legendary late Bangladesh footballer, has been put up for auction until Saturday night at 10:30pm through “Auction 4 Action” on its facebook page. Earlier on April 23 this year, Shurovi Monem, wife of Munna, decided to put up on auction a No 2 jersey of Munna, which she initially thought he wore during Bangladesh’s first international trophy winning campaign in Myanmar in 1995. A jersey every Bangladeshi would wear or hold with pride!”National cricketers Soumya Sarkar and Taskin Ahmed had also put up their favorite bat and ball for auction, and sold for Tk 4.5 and 4 lakhs respectively. The charismatic defender represented the national team with a lot of pride for 10 years, starting from 1987.
