Article content continuedPeople don’t understand government finance and part of the reason is because of the way we currently run the government’s fiscal operations. People hear that the government is running a deficit so it needs to borrow. No government that issues its own currency ever needs to borrow that currency from anybody else in order to spend. At some point, God willing, the economy is going to recover and we’re going to approach something closer to full employment. The limit is in our economy’s capacity to safely absorb whatever spending Congress has authorized.
