They developed a free app Prevent Suicide, which helped reduce of suicides in the area by 29 per cent in its first year and has since been downloaded by almost 30,000 people. But on November 1, the night before she would learn her team had won, Simon took his own life. When Fiona couldn’t get Simon on the phone, she asked one of his friends to go round.
