Owing to space constraints, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporartion (BMC) has now decided to construct two to three storey public toilets across the city. Through this, the civic body aims to reduce the area required to build one toilet seat by 1 square meter. However, it is difficult for the civic body to find adequate amount of land for the purpose. The highest demand has come from M/east ward that includes Govandi, Deonar at 7,200 toilet seats, followed by L ward (Kurla) at 2,328 seats. To maintain its status as ODF, the civic body has set the toilet construction target for next year.
