After taking over as the Shiv Sena chief in January 2013, Uddhav Thackeray refused to sit on the chair his father, Sena founder Bal Thackeray, had used. Since then the Shiv Sena has staked everything in the MCGM elections. "The Shiv Sena cadre, built assiduously over decades, is being called upon to deliver at arguably its most difficult electoral test. Then there is the other Sena, led by Uddhav’s cousin Raj Thackeray , which faces an even harder survival battle and is entwined even more in the older legacy of the Shiv Sena. It will be uncharted territory for the Shiv Sena as well as Uddhav Thackeray.
