This noble initiative has been taken up to help the farmers sell their produce directly, eliminating the ‘middleman’ and thus enabling the farmers to earn more profit. Meet the group of people that has been selling produce directly to the community in order to help out the respective farmersA group of Good Samaritans have come together to sell a variety of vegetables to the community, bought directly from the farmers. By this initiative, farmers can get good value for their produce and the consumer can get the benefit of fresh farm produce at farm gate prices, right at their doorstep. Maryann Azavedo from the complex said, “We decided on doing this in order to benefit the residents of 82 flats and of course, also to indirectly help the farmers.” Organised by the ‘all-women’ group called Jupiter Queens’, the directly-sourced veggies will be sold again on June 5.
