Mumbai: Three held in Rs 57.6 L jewellery theft at Pydhonie


Three persons were arrested by Pydhonie Police for stealing diamond jewellery worth Rs 57.60 lakh from a gold polishing unit. The arrested persons have been identified as Kartik Payra, 23, Zareshwar Maiti, 34, and Pintoo Bhuia, 22. On May 15, complainant Kalyan Kar, 37, who has a jewellery manufacturing unit in YM Road at Pydhonie, lodged an FIR stating that his employee Payra has decamped with jewellery meant for polishing worth Rs 57.60 lakh, said Avinash Kanade, Senior Police Inspector, Pydhonie Police Station. "At their instance, we managed to recover jewellery worth Rs 49.20 lakh. They were produced before a local court which remanded them to police custody till June 04," he said.
