Mumbai Marathon: Cold weather shatters course records for Ethiopia’s Haile Lemi and Anchalem HaymanotRecords were broken at the Mumbai Marathon on Sunday as the city witnessed its coldest day so far this season. Ethiopia’s Hayley Lemi bettered the elite men’s course record by more than 30 seconds, comfortably clocking 2:07:32 and bettering the 2020 record of 2:08:09 set by Derara Hurissa. Lamy and Anchalm took home $45,000 in prize money as well as course record bonuses of $15,000 each. It was a dream start in the women’s elite race for Aanchelem, who kept pleading with her pacer to push hard throughout the race. In the women’s race, there were five runners in the lead pack at the midway stage before 2019 champion Worknesh Alemu took the sole lead.
