Mumbai’s 33rd cadaver donation this year saves lives of three

The 33rd cadaver donation in Mumbai this year gave a new lease of life to three end-stage organ failure patients. The organ donation scheme has helped 87 people this year — almost 50% of last year’s 184 — which was the highest since the programme began in 2001. Doctors from Saifee Hospital, where the senior citizen was admitted, said he was in the intensive care unit. “Last year, patients from the hospital had donated three organs, but this year we have already crossed the figures with the first organ donation of 2017. We hope more lives can be saved with the awareness,” said Dr Shabina Khan medical administrator of Saifee Hospital.
