JOHOR BARU: A single mother was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here with killing her two-year-old daughter. Nurul Shamira Mazlan, 22, was accused of intentionally causing the death of her only child, Nur Shahana Abdus Quddus, who died at Sultan Ismail Hospital here on Jan 13. Nurul Shamira, who is jobless, was alleged to have committed the offence between Jan 5 and 11 from 11am to noon at an apartment in Jalan Kempas Indah, Taman Kempas Indah, here. She was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction. The victim was said to have had multiple injuries, including bite marks on her arms and abdomen.
