A West Auckland mum is determined to do everything she can to raise awareness of eating disorders and provide support to parents. Eating Disorders Association of New Zealand (EDANZ) chairwoman Nicki Wilson said support was vital in dealing with such a 'devastating illness'. Improving understanding about eating disorders among primary health care providers, such as GPs, could also help with early diagnosis, prompt intervention and full recovery. Walker said she too wants to advocate for families and those with eating disorders and to help to make parents more aware of early signs and symptoms.
