Multinational shuts Nova Scotia carpet plant, moves work to Georgia

TRURO, N.S. - Hundreds of workers will soon be without jobs following the closure of a Truro, N.S., carpet plant, one of the city’s oldest operating manufacturers. The 240 employees of Tarkett North America were told Tuesday afternoon that their work will move to Dalton, Georgia, with the Truro plant scheduled to close on July 16. “We are proud of what we have accomplished together. Truro is home to many of us and, while we are closing a significant chapter, we look forward to seeing what lies ahead for the community.”
