Laura Muir claimed her first global medal for Great Britain after clinching 3,000 metres bronze at the World Indoor Championships. The 24-year-old, who took a taxi from Scotland to Birmingham on Wednesday as the snow caused transport chaos, finished third behind victorious Ethiopian Genzebe Dibaba and Holland’s Sifan Hassan. Muir clocked a season’s best eight minutes and 45.78 seconds on Thursday. Earlier, Morgan Lake came fourth in the women’s high jump after leaping 1.93m, while team-mate Robbie Grabarz came a disappointing ninth after failing at 2.25m. Russian duo Danil Lysenko and Mariya Lasitskene, competing as neutral athletes, took the titles.
